The Online Dog Coach lesson of the month is Come or Recall.  The come or recall command can be useful in almost any scenario such as gathering your dog after a session at the dog park.  This command can also be lifesaver allowing you to call your dog away from a dangerous situation.
Before beginning this lesson, we recommend that your dog is proficient with the watch me command which helps your dog focus on you.  You will also need a collar, leash and rewards (either a treat or toy).  Click here for the Come or Recall lesson and video.

TJ earns 23rd Master Snooker qualifier.  Only 2 more for his Silver title.  If you have never seen or heard of snooker before, it is a strategy game where you design a course within the USDAA rules.  There are those that love it and others not so much.  It happens to be my favorite game.

Rankine and Letti are in 16th place after 2 events.  Rankine had a beautiful gamblers run and Letti rocked standard.  Anything can happen in the next 3 events.  Tomorrow they will compete in jumpers and snooker followed by relay on Sunday.

Rankine and TJ are headed to Albuquerque, NM this weekend for the Rocky Mountain USDAA Regional at Balloon Park.  Rankine will be competing in the tournament classes in preparation for the Denver USDAA Nationals this coming September.   Rankine is paired up with a blazing fast corgi for Performance Versatility Team so it should be a blast.

Our old man TJ is looking to have fun in a few game classes.  I am grateful that he is still healthy and able to run agility.  Few things are better than spending a weekend running with a well trained four-legged friend.

The April lesson of the month is Heel in a Figure 8 which builds on last month’s featured lesson Heel on Left.  While heeling on the left is a must have for walking your dog, teaching your dog to heel in a Figure 8 adds the “wow” factor.  Plus, if your interested in competing, heeling in a Figure 8 is tested in competition obedience and rally obedience.  To successfully train heel in a figure 8, we recommend that your dog is proficient at heeling on left and sit.  You will also need a collar, a leash, and rewards (treats or toys).

Please post a comment here if you have questions about heeling in Figure 8.  Happy Training!

The March lesson of the month is heeling.  This lesson teaches your dog to walk in a heeling position on your left-side instead of crossing back and forth in front or behind you.   While teaching heel may not be the most glamorous trick, you will be the envy of the neighborhood as you breeze through your walk without a care in the world (even better, you walk your dog while drinking a beverage).   In this lesson your dog will also learn to automatically sit when you stop which is important when you approach streets and other people/dogs.  For the best success training your dog to heel, we recommend that your dog be proficient at sit and watch me.  You will also need a collar, leash, and rewards (treats or toys).

If you need help with the heeling lesson, please post your questions here.  Happy Training!
